Tippit was a police officer with the Dallas Police Department
who, according to multiple government investigations
including the Warren Commission, was shot and killed
by Lee Harvey Oswald after Tippit stopped Oswald following
the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Oswald's initial arrest was for Tippit's murder, not Kennedy's.
